Mesh Blocks Counts
Mesh Blocks are the smallest geographic unit for which Census data are available and are the smallest geographic region in the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). In 2011, there are approximately 347,000 Mesh Blocks covering the whole of Australia without gaps or overlaps. They broadly identify land use such as residential, commercial, agricultural and parks etc. Mesh Blocks are identified with a unique 11 digit code. Mesh Block boundaries are available to download from Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Volume 1 - Main Structure and Greater Capital City Statistical Areas (cat no. 1270.0.55.001)
